    WHAT IS SLEEP APNOEA ?

    It is a repetitive episode of complete or partial cessation of breathing during sleep.

    It lasts for few seconds and restarts which makes the body to starve of oxygen resulting in disturbed sleep and poor quality off sleep.

    TYPES:

    • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea: Upper airway blockage during sleep as the muscles in the back relax which leads to narrowing of the airway.
    • Central Sleep Apnoea: Both airflow and inspiratory efforts are absent or reduce as the brain fails to send signal to the muscles that control breathing.
    • Complex Sleep Apnoea: Starts with obstructive sleep apnoea and converts to central sleep apnoea.
