    DYSLIPIDEMIA

Fatty liver disease, also known as hepatic steatosis, occurs when there is an accumulation of fat in the liver cells. This condition can develop for several reasons, but it is most commonly associated with certain lifestyle factors and underlying health conditions.

There are two main types of fatty liver disease:

    1. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD):

    • Cause : This is the most common type and is not related to alcohol consumption. It is often linked to obesity, insulin resistance (such as in type 2 diabetes), high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
    • Symptoms : It is usually asymptomatic in the early stages. However, some people may experience fatigue, pain or discomfort in the upper right side of the abdomen, and weight loss

    2. Alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD):

    • Cause : This type of fatty liver disease is directly related to excessive alcohol consumption. Chronic heavy drinking can overwhelm the liver’s ability to metabolize alcohol and cause fat to accumulate in the liver.
    • Symptoms : Similar to NAFLD, AFLD may not cause any symptoms in the early stages but could lead to liver inflammation, jaundice, abdominal pain, and swelling as it progresses.
