Acupuncture & Acupressure
Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine in which fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body(acupoints) for therapeutic or preventive purposes.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is a method for restoring equilibrium to the flow of vital force/ life force, referred to as chi or qi. Qi / Chi is the life force that governs our whole body, main working force behind all the life events and controls functioning of all organs and systems of the body. The Qi flows in the body through various meridians.
If the flow of Chi in these meridians is imbalanced (stagnation or excess) due to certain reason, it manifests in the form of pain, emotional disturbances, digestive issues or physical tension. By placing needles at certain spots along these meridians, the flow of qi is brought back to balance, resulting in healing.
HOW IT AFFECTS THE BODY?
Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This releases chemicals into muscles, spinal cord and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities promoting physical and emotional well-being.
