Desk yoga – de-stress while sitting at your workstation!

Do you have a desk job that requires you to sit before your system for hours? If so, it might be one of the biggest reasons why you feel stressed out and exhausted, and feel aches everywhere in your body. At Nirvana Naturopathy & Retreat, we understand that including yoga asanas in between your other daily routine might seem impossible, but that does not mean that you cannot enjoy the advantages of yoga at your workplace.

Given below are some yoga asanas that you can use to de-stress right at your desk. With the help of desk yoga, your mind will feel fresh, you will be able to relieve work tension and enhance your productivity. Take a look.

  • Stretch your back: Back pain is a very common phenomenon among those with desk jobs. If you have a terrible sitting posture, it can seriously affect your lower and upper back resulting in severe cramps. While you are seated, you can do a backbend or you can raise your hands high and stretch your back while having your fingers interlocked with each other. Hold this pose for a few seconds and repeat it several times during the day.
  • Stretch out your hands and legs: Sitting for several hours not only affect the back, but also the hands and legs. In order to stretch out your legs, you can stand straight and then, bend forward to try and touch your nose to your legs. Alternatively, you can stay seated and stretch out your legs perpendicular to your spine. As for your hands, you can raise them, stretch them out or interlock and squeeze them.
